GENERALIST
PROGRAMMER

Ratloop Games Canada is currently seeking a full-generalist programmer who will work onsite with the Production Team. This individual will mostly to help us develop the network and back-end infrastructure for our new multiplayer game as well as helping in other areas of engineering. The ideal candidate needs to be open to work with various systems, be proactive and propose and develop solutions as required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Back-end infrastructure: Dedicated servers, login servers, etc. using existing middleware solution (e.g. GameLift, PlayFab);

  • Game Features: Matchmaking, leaderboards;

  • Game economy infrastructure with support for downloadable content and microtransactions;

  • Network replication and mitigating cheating & griefing as well as various graphics, UI, or gameplay features that will need to be developed to support these systems;

  • Assist with gameplay features (prototype mechanics and character abilities).

 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent training or experience;

  • Fluent in C++;

  • 5+ years of experience in video game development;

  • Experience with multiplayer games infrastructure;

  • Knowledge of the technical Pipelines and all the processes required to make a game;
     

  • Asset: Proficient technical skills in Unreal Engine 4;

  • Asset: Web programming, Json;

  • Asset: Experience with game economies;

  • Asset: Graphics programming;

  • Asset: Strong interest in gaming.

 
OTHER SKILLS:

  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities;

  • Affinity with game design;

  • Autonomous and resourceful, ability to take initiative;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
